state compliance

At a site in Dallas, TX, Erling’s Compliance Team was sent to rehabilitate a sump that was in dire condition due to corrosion. The team meticulously cleaned the existing corrosion by power-washing and replaced all necessary components, ensuring the station could return to full functionality. Erling’s intervention was critical in preventing expensive fines from TCEQ by addressing issues like unsafe exposed electrical wiring, lack of an explosion-proof box, and extensive corrosion caused by a history of leaks and fumes in the sump.

The rehabilitation process involved several detailed steps to ensure compliance with industry regulations. Erling’s Compliance Team replaced the submersible turbine pump (STP), replaced the internal components, and cleaned out the manhole. Additionally, they pumped out rust, water, and debris, replaced various components such as unions, ball valves, conduits, and fittings, and brought the entire sump up to code standards.

Safety is the main priority for the site, our team, and customers visiting the store. In order to maintain a safe work environment, the team checked the low explosive limits (LEL) of the inside of the sump throughout the entire process, applied Ospho to lift rust and corrosion, and power washed and scrubbed the sump and its components. Additionally, they implemented a lockout/tagout procedure to prevent sparks from exposed electrical devices. This comprehensive approach not only restored the site’s functionality but also ensured its compliance and safety.
